Sponsor | LightChaser | May 11, 9:00am | A Mac-savvy woman from Westchester was able to help cops bust the men who allegedly stole her laptop -- by remotely logging on to the stolen computer and taking a picture of the suspects using its Web camera, according to a report on LoHud.com.
White Plains police investigators arrested Edmon Shahikian, 23, of Katonah and Ian Frias, 20, of the Bronx from photos given to them by the burglary victim. Police said they found most of the $5,000 worth of electronics stolen from the woman's White Plains apartment back on April 27.

This is how the unusual takedown began: The woman got a call from a friend saying that she appeared to be logged on to the Internet, which she wasn't. That led the woman to believe that the thieves who stole her laptop were online. Using the Back to My Mac program, the woman logged on from another computer and was able to remotely access her laptop.
At that point, she activated the laptop's built-in Webcam; at first she saw an empty chair, but eventually she was able to photograph Shahikian sitting in front of the laptop, police said. She brought the photos to police, who were able to identify the men and arrest them.

I need it to go where my cubbies are. I need it to be small. It's just a necessary REQUIREMENT! Because heaven forbid, I am without contact to the *OUT!*side world! |
